Renault Kwid is said to be the first car from the maker to be based on the all-new CMF-A platform, which was developed in coordination with Nissan Motors. This will also be the first car to be featuring the new engine jointly developed by these makers. This 800 cc petrol engine is said to be sufficiently powerful to propel the car easily.

The new car will be placed along with other best selling small cars like Maruti Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon.  However, the Kwid will offer many first in class features and comforts as compared to its competitors. Moreover, the Renault car is slated to be the most spacious car in the segment. As the car would measure 3680 mm in length and 1580 mm in width, it would offer one of the roomiest interiors. Furthermore, the car will offer a class leading ground clearance of 180 mm, which would make it easy to navigate through the uneven Indian roads.

Some of the key features of the car are:
·         Dual-slat grille
·         Sweptback headlamps
·         13-14 inch wheels
·         Plastic cladding on both sides
·         Digital instrument cluster
·         Body-coloured tailgate spoiler
·         Media-Navigation system with a seven-inch (18 cm) screen
·         Piano black centre console with chrome-surround

All set to come into the Indian market, the Kwid will be aggressively priced at three-lakh rupees and above. This means that the car is affordable by a vast majority of people. The Kwid has already made its global debut in India on August 20, 2015. This indicates that Renault consider India as one of its important markets.

The new car will run on an all-new 800 cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine indigenously developed by the Renault-Nissan alliance. It is expected to produce a maximum power of 57 bhp and a peak torque of 100 Nm. The engine would be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Although the company would not offer an AMT version now, it is expected that at a later stage, an AMT variant too will make its entry into the market.

The USP of the car would be its spaciousness and feature-rich interiors. It is expected that the availability of features like media-navigation system along with a seven-inch screen would make this small car more acceptable to the buyers looking for a compact car.
