As the festive season in India is set to start, the carmakers
are also getting ready for new car launches. Almost all makers schedule their
big launches during this time. Car lovers across the country often wait for
this season to begin, so that they get a glimpse of the new cars. This is also
one of the most favourable times for buying a car as the dealer and makers
often offer the buyer many attractive schemes and freebies during this period. Read

One of the eagerly awaited launches of this festive season
is the hatchback from Renault, which is named Kwid. This small car from French
automaker's stable is a much-anticipated launch of the season. Although the exact
launch date is not yet known, it is expected by the end of September or early
October this year. The French carmaker is known to introduce its new launches during
the festive season.
Renault has already signed up the famous Bollywood star
Ranbir Kapoor as its brand ambassador. It is hoped that Kwid will get some
mileage out of a young and dashing star, much like the car itself. On the exterior,
the hatch looks more like a crossover and less like the traditional hatchback. Experts
are classifying it as a mini crossover, thanks to its looks and styling.
Built on the Common
Module Family (CMF-A) platform jointly developed by Nissan and Renault, the
Kwid would be the cheapest car from that maker. As it is to be placed in the
entry-level segment, Kwid will come with an affordable price tag ranging
between three and four lakh rupees. If it is high-priced, it might not be able
to win over the average buyers. More importantly, the segment leaders, Maruti
Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon, would not be threatened at all by this newcomer.
The car will feature an 800 cc three-cylinder petrol engine
capable of producing 57 bhp of power. It will be mated to a five-speed manual
transmission gearbox. Although the company might offer an AMT variant, experts
are of the opinion that the AMT variant might not be offered immediately. Once
launched, Kwid would be the most spacious car in the segment. The car is also
expected to offer best in class mileages, along with a best in class ground
clearance of 180 mm.
Apart from these, the car is also tipped to offer
segment first features like touch screen
Media-Nav Navigation System with a seven-inch display, digital instrument
console, alloy wheels, chrome door handles, chrome touched tail lights, roof
rails and side body cladding, among others.
If you were looking forward to buying a car, it would be
prudent to wait until the festive season to own cars like Kwid. Join Google+ to
