Renault,
the famous French auto giant has its operations spread over various parts of
the globe, including India. India is one of the biggest and fastest growing
automobile markets in the world. Hence, all automakers vie for a share in this
vastly untapped market. Renault was operating in India for many years, without
achieving much success. However, as the Duster came in and took the market by
storm, the maker too was noticed. Slowly, the brand gained recognition across
India. In a bid to strengthen its presence further, Renault is now gearing up
for another launch. Check out more car models with latest

The French
automaker will soon launch Kwid, a small car to suit the needs of the average
Indian car buyer. This compact hatch would look to take on the segment leaders
like Maruti Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon. With the launch of Kwid, Renault would
hope to leave its mark in the compact car segment of the Indian car industry.
Price – One of the areas that the foreign makers
never seem to get right is the pricing of cars. The numbers of foreign branded
cars that have failed just because of wrong pricing are numerous. However,
Renault is determined not to be in that list and hence, it has priced the Kwid
quite competitively. It is known that this car will come with a price tag
ranging from three to four lakh rupees. The price of the top variant is
unlikely to cross the four-lakh mark.
Launch date – The car was unveiled in May 2015.
Interestingly, the global debut of the car was also in India. The exact date of
launch of the production version is yet unknown. However, industry reports
suggest that it could happen any time in September or latest by October.
Design - Renault Kwid will sport an entirely new
design as far as compact cars are concerned. In looks, it resembles a crossover
than a hatchback. As a result, some experts have already started calling this
car a mini crossover. This is mainly due to the plastic cladding on the side
and the bumpers as well as a high set bonnet, which gives it a crossover feel.
The muscular wheel arches make the car look bigger than its actual size.
Features – The high-end variants will offer fog lamps
and wheel covers. The car will have piano black interiors and a digital
instrument cluster. Other attractive features are touch screen Media navigation
system and Bluetooth connectivity (optional), and airbags for high-end variant.
However, ABS is not offered. Boot space is ample.
Technical - KWID will run on an 800 cc petrol engine
mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
In
short, this car has everything in it to be a winner. Auto Portal India
