Hyundai i10 vs Skoda Fabia – An absurd comparison

Comparing the Hyundai i10 to the Skoda Fabia would not be a fair comparison, given that these hatchbacks are in two different price points. The i10 is a budget and compact hatch while the Fabia is a larger and costlier one. But it would be interesting to see how the two stack up based on specifications and the features. To know more information on car prices & news, upcoming car etc. Visit : AutoPortal .

The Hyundai i10 has been a long running and successful hatchback offering. It is ideally suited for crowded, city roads and is extremely driver friendly on account of its compact size. It is also a smartly designed vehicle that is fairly well put together as far as features inside the cabin are concerned.

The Skoda Fabia has been around for a while too and is counted among the premium hatchbacks currently on the roads. It is definitely pricier, even among its immediate peers, and comes with the solid name of Skoda. It is also a sturdy car that is packed with features within.

Coming to the vehicular specifications, the Hyundai i10 is 3585 mm in length, 1595 mm in width and 1550 mm in height. Compared to it, the Skoda Fabia is considerably larger at 4000 mm in length, 1642 mm in width, though it stands slightly less tall at 1522 mm. Obviously, this points to the Skoda being a bigger hatchback and where five adults can sit more comfortably. At 2465 mm wheelbase and a kerb weight of 1070 kgs, the dimensions clearly are more expansive and befitting a large hatchback.

Both the Hyundai i10 and the Skoda Fabia sport a petrol and diesel engine each. The i10’s 1086 cc petrol unit puts out 68 BHP and a maximum torque of 99 Nm at 4500 rpm. The diesel mill is the 1120 cc one that displaces 75 BHP and 155 Nm of torque at 1900 rpm. The Skoda Fabia, for its part, comes in a 1198 cc petrol engine that has a peak power of 75 BHP and a maximum torque of 110 Nm. There was also a 1598 cc petrol mil, spewing 105 BHP and a max torque of 153 Nm at 3800 rpm, but is now discontinued. The diesel mill that powers the Fabia is of 1203 cc with a peak power of 75 BHP and a maximum torque of 110 Nm.

The Fabia is, obviously, the better handler and the car that promises a better ride. The i10 is more suited to nimble movement in the city. The trim levels of the Fabia are good while the i10 has basic comfort levels.

Clearly, the Hyundai i10 and the Skoda Fabia are in two different price points and choosing between the two would be based on budget and terrain being used for. Read more latest Car Models :

Honda Amaze vs. Maruti Swift DZire – The Battle is on

The trend of buying compact sedan caught on with the Indian buyers recently. These cars came with many advantages, the major ones being low cost, better space in spite of compactness, and ease of handling. Furthermore, the Indian government had offered attractive duty cuts for all cars measuring less than four meters in length. This made the compact sedans even more attractive in the eyes of the budget conscious buyers. Above all, the compact sedans due to their smaller sizes are easy to drive and park than the big sedans. They also offered higher fuel-efficiency as compared to the big sedans. AutoPortal – To find latest car models in India .

Although there are several compact sedans in India, the most popular cars in the compact sedan segment come from Maruti, Honda, Tata and Hyundai. Among these, the sedans from Maruti and Honda enjoy greater popularity and demand. Here is a closer look at both these cars - Honda Amaze and Maruti Swift DZire against one another. Interestingly, both these cars are first of its kind from their respective makers. Here is a quick peek at the differences between the two based on common factors like price, engine capacities, mileage and so on.

Price – Maruti Suzuki cars are generally known for their affordability and the Swift DZire is not an exception to this rule. Priced between INR 5.08 lakh and INR 7.82 lakh, it is cheaper than the Honda Amaze, which carries a price tag ranging from INR 5.19 lakh to 8.21 lakh
.
Engine – A 1.5-liter i-dtec diesel mill of 100 PS of power and 200 Nm torque powers the Honda Amaze. Alternatively, the Swift DZire is powered by an 1197 cc, 1.3-liter four-cylinder diesel engine of 86 bhp.  Clearly, Honda Amaze has a more powerful engine of the two. Both the cars offer five-speed manual transmission gearbox.

Mileage – The Honda Amaze is a clear winner here as it offers a best in class mileage of 25 kmpl. Swift DZire has a lower fuel-efficiency of 22 kmpl.

Features – Amaze has a bigger boot space and it is more attractive and balanced, as compared to the DZire. The DZire feels somewhat cramped in the rear. However, it offers better handling and a smoother ride than the Amaze does. Although Honda Amaze has feature-rich interiors than Swift DZire, Maruti has a bigger network of after sales services, which is unbeatable by Honda. This translates into easy availability of spares and services. Furthermore, the Maruti spares cost less than the Honda spares.

In short, it is clear that both cars hold an edge over the other in one feature or the other. Hence, it can be said that if budget is your concern, then opt for Swift DZire and if not, opt for Honda Amaze.
