Ford Cars – Autoportal reviews the stylish cars

Ford cars enjoy a unique admiration in the country, thanks to their stylish bodies and powerful engines. This American multinational automobile company started its operations in India long back in 1996, but was a bit expensive for the Indian population then. However, Ford cars are nowadays seen on roads very frequently, thanks to improved life style of the masses and increased competition among car companies.Let us study about the Ford cars in India in this article.

Ford cars sport bold exterior design along with comfortable and spacious interiors. Moreover they come packed with scores of comfort and safety features. The first Ford car officially seen on Indian roads was the Escort which was soon followed by the Ikon. A couple of cars like Ford Mondeo and Fusion had to be withdrawn from the market due to poor sales. At present the company has at least one car in all segments here. They are the Figo, Fiesta, Classic, Ecosport and Endeavour. A recent addition to this list is the Aspire Sedan, while the Ford B Max, Ford Fusion, Ford Transit, Ford Edge, Ford Escape, Ford Expedition and a refreshed Mondeo are some of its forthcoming cars.

The little Figo in the hatchback section is one of the most popular Ford cars in the country. Running successfully since 2010, this car is built and priced to Indian likes. Though it looks small, one can get that big car feel and dynamics while driving a Figo. It is the cheapest Ford car at just Rs 3.8 lakhs.
The Fiesta is a long and wide luxurious sedan with a longer wheelbase. It is the most fuel efficient car among the Ford cars line-up. 8 variants of this car are currently available in the market in the price range of Rs 8-10 lakhs. Ford Classic is a cheaper sedan available at just Rs 5 lakhs. It carries a simple and sober design, but excels in ride and handling. And the latest Aspire sedan is a sub four metre compact sedan offering superior performance, decent fuel efficiency and first-in-class features within Rs 5-7 lakhs.

Next is the trendy and popular Ford Ecosport which truly changed the fortune of the company here. The Ecosport is a smartly packaged compact SUV with a radical design, comfy interiors and good technicalities offered at a budgeted price of Rs 6-10 lakhs.

Ford Endeavour is a mighty and luxurious sports utility vehicle designed for all types of terrain and built on a traditional design. Besides forceful road presence, it is blessed with loads of safety and comfort features. Available withinRs 19-23 lakhs, it is the most expensive Ford model in the country.

Skoda Yeti Facelift – Autoportal review

Skoda Auto, the Czech Republican based automobile companyintroduced its urban SUV – the Yeti in the year 2010. But the Yeti never saw high sales due to its quirky design, small interior cabin and poor size to price ratio. A new model was out in September lastyear in Mumbai. Let us see how this all-new model is different from its previous version. Read more about latest car model Tweets from Auto Portal India.

The exterior dimensions remain the same, except for a negligible 1 mm reduction in length due to the new rear bumper.Other major visible changes area larger grille with styled air intakes, re-designed bumper,a new set of bi-xenon headlamps, repositioned rectangular fog lamps, tweaked LED tail lamps and redesigned alloy wheels. The side gets a chrome lining and the roof rails get silver accents.

There are no noticeable changes in the interior except for the new 3 spoke steering wheel and updated dashboard and seat trims. A great advance in the 2015 model is the integration of the new Multi-Device Interface (MDI)which has many features like a usual trip, fuel efficiency and range meters, illumination settings for the 'guide me home' lights, rain sensing wipers, ORVM mirror dimming, lane changing function, central locking, service interval details etc. Further to this, it has a setting to select the winter tyre size for odometer correction and day light savings. It also gets more comfort features like a dual zone A/C, cruise control, keyless entry, electrically adjustable driver seat, folding rear seats, panoramic sunroof, tyre monitoring system and an upgraded music system with 8 speakers. Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, ESP, electronic differential lock, anti-slip regulation and an interesting Parktronic feature.

The 2015 Skoda Yeti will be powered by the same 2.0 litre four cylinder TDi engine which has the capacity to produce a maximum power of 110 bhp and 140 bhp respectively depending on the 5 speed or 6 speed transmission. At least Skoda should have introduced a DSG automatic version.A major alteration is that Skoda has discontinued all trim levels and has retained only the top-end Elegance trim. It will be offered in 2 models- the Yeti Elegance 4X2 and Elegance 4X4 at an approximate price of Rs 18.99 lakhs and Rs 20.53 lakhs.

The compact size of the vehicle makes it easy to manoeuvre in the cities, and it is also equally well-mannered on highways. The Yeti has a very balanced ride and goes through bumps and potholes comfortably. The Yeti was up till now never considered very likeable due to its offbeat looks, despite being excellent in almost all other areas. The new face lifted Yeti has strived hard to change this perception and is expecting to attract the attention of a larger audience.
