Suzuki somehow never managed to earn a good name in the C-segment of premium
sedans. However Maruti changed the story when it introduced the new Ciaz in
February last year. The high success of the Ciaz, that tooin a very short
period of time, has helped Maruti to shed its popular image as a small car
maker. Its sales crossed the 50000 units mark in less than eight months and the

The handsome mid-size sedan is one of the longest
and widest in its segment. Yet it is lighter than its rivals as the body panels
are built using lightweight high-tensile steel. It carries a simple but elegant
design with a low slung roofline and a long hood. The huge front radiator
grille and bumper has a smooth finish along with projector headlamps and LED
daytime running lights. The body coloured electrically foldable external
mirrors fused with turn blinkers, flared wheel arches, chrome door handles and
a strong shoulder line adds to its grace. The bumper at rear is large and takes
in integrated reflectors and wrap around tail lamps.
The long wheelbase of 2650 mm promises an airy and
spacious cabin. It also gets an impressive 510-litre boot storage capacity
along with a huge 43-litre fuel tank. The dual toned cabin is outlined by a
stylish dashboard which comprises of a user friendly instrument panel and
storage box. The seats are pretty wide with plenty of leg and knee room.
An automatic AC system with heater, power windows,
electrical ORVMs, power steering with tilt function and audio controls, driver
seat height adjuster, ABS plus EBD, engine immobilizer, central locking, side
impact beams, reverse parking sensors, remote trunk and fuel lid opener, an advanced
infotainment system and a 2-DIN music player with USB, AUX-In and Bluetooth
connectivity are some of the comfort features. Safety features like ABS-EBD,
engine immobilizer, central locking, side impact beams, reverse parking
sensors, remote trunk and fuel lid opener makes the Ciaz a safe car.
This all new sedan is available in petrol and diesel
engine options with manual as well as automatic transmission. The three petrol
variants - VXi, VXi+, ZXi are powered by a 1.4 litre K series (K14B) petrol engine,
which can generate a maximum power of 95 PS and 130 Nm of peak torque. The
three diesel variants - VDi, VDi+ and ZDi are run by a 1.3 litre DDIS diesel
motor that can generate 90 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 200 Nm.
At Rs 7.7-12 lakhs, Ciaz is a very good value for
