The long wait for Maruti Suzuki's
first-ever premium hatchback, the Baleno, is finally going to get over on
October 26, 2015. The official bookings for the car are all set to commence
from October 13. The booking amount will be
between Rs. 25,000-50,000. The
Maruti Suzuki Baleno will be the second product to be sold through the
company's premium dealership range - Nexa. For Maruti Suzuki, Baleno is a very
important product for the company's 2020 vision when it aims to sell two

Exterior
Baleno sports
perforated radiator grille which is V-shaped while the side gets alloy wheels
in top variants and steel rims in the base and mid variants. The car has been
styled using Suzuki’s “Liquid Flow” design theme. Suzuki has developed it on a
new platform and the body rigidity has been enhanced by 10% and total vehicle
weight reduced by 15%.
With 3,995 mm length,
1,745 mm width, 1,500 mm height and a wheelbase of 2,520 mm, the Maruti Baleno
will be one of the most spacious cars in its league. The
luggage space, at 355 litres, is very impressive. The Baleno will be
launched in four trim levels - Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha.
Interiors
The Baleno appears to have the best cabin quality among all
Maruti vehicles. The instrument panel is flared at each end for a sense of
breadth and there is a large, high-definition LCD display in the centre. It is
the first car in India to be equipped with Apple CarPlay. The
features list of Maruti Baleno is expected to include rear wiper and defogger,
electrically-adjustable and folding mirrors with turn indicators, rear parking
sensors, steering mounted audio controls, 60:40 split seat, keyless entry, LED
DRLs, alloy wheels, height-adjustable driver seat and touchscreen SmartPlay
system.
Under
the bonnet
Under the bonnet of Maruti Baleno will
be 1.2-liter VVT petrol and 1.3-liter DDiS diesel mills. While the petrol
variant of Baleno can churn out 83 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at
4,000 rpm, the diesel trim will be tuned to pump out 74 bhp at 4,000 rpm and
190 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. The transmission will be taken care of by a
5-speed manual and a CVT.
The Baleno will be offered in seven body
shades: Granite grey, Solid fire red, Premium urban blue, Autumn orange,
Metallic premium silver, Pearl arctic white and Ray blue.
Upon its launch, the
Maruti Baleno will take on the likes of Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen
Polo. It is expected to get a price tag of around Rs
6 lakh. The old Baleno sedan, which is now
discontinued, and the new car have nothing in common.
